Middle School Mission Trip to Duluth for Summer of 2008 is FULL!! Attention Confirmation Students!!! – Please continue to turn in worship reflections, service project reflection sheets (don’t forget to put your name on them), and confirmation covenant forms. We are in the process of getting materials together to send out to you about where your status is for confirmation. They will be out soon. Also, please mark these dates down on your calendars: For 9^th graders - Confirmation Pictures & Rehearsal will be at 5pm on Sunday, April 27^th the confirmation banquet for 9^th graders and parents will be Sunday, April 27^th from 6:30-8pm. For 8^th graders – You are expected to serve at the confirmation banquet on Sunday, April 27th along with your mentor! Please put this date down on your calendars – you will be needed! Confirmation Sunday for 9^th graders will be Sunday, May 4^th. More details about the Banquet and Confirmation Sunday will be coming to you via snail mail. Just wanted to remind you all of dates coming up and to make sure they are on your calendars! Lastly, confirmation interviews for this year’s 9^th graders will begin the end of March – more details about this coming soon!

UMY’s 2008 – We are in need of an adult male to join us as a leader for the Sr. High weekend of UMY’s. Dates are Friday, March 14^th @ 4pm – Sunday, March 16^th (we will be home at 3pm) Please let me know if you are interested in this opportunity! The cost to you as a leader is waived!! UMCOR – “One Great Hour of Sharing”…Enclosed in your update today is an envelope for next week’s special offering. This offering enables the United Methodist Committee on Relief to keep our promise that 100 percent of your designated gift goes entirely to specific causes. Checks should be made to RUMC. Thank you for sharing the goodness of life with those who hurt.

FLOWERS IN THE SANCTUARY SUNDAY…are provided by Rebecca Soileau in memory of her mother, Marialice Seal. Flowers in the Family Life Center are provided by Larry and Trudi Greaves in celebration of Benjamin’s baptism anniversary.

A HUGE heart shaped thank you to everyone who participated in the Valentine Cookie Bake this year!  Rosemount UMC mailed out 29 boxes of cookies to last year’s high school graduates!  It takes a lot of cookies to fill that many boxes – 1,152 cookies (or 96 dozen!)  This year there were 24 people who baked cookies, 4 people who packed cookies and 1 person who mailed cookies… a special thank you to each of you!  This is a big project and we couldn’t do it without your help!  - Rosemount UMC Caring Ministries Team 

GET READY TO DANCE AWAY THOSE WINTER BLUES! 

Come to Rosemount UMC’s first Leap Year Day Ballroom Blitz Community Outreach Dance Party, Friday, February 29th 7pm-10pm.  Live music will be provided by Rosemount’s UMC very own Lourey Middlecamp and the Jazz Harmonic Ensemble! This event is open to all ages and is sure to be full of fun and surprises! Bring your entire family and friends!  Tickets are not required, but a free -will donation will be collected at the door. All proceeds will help support future community concert programs provided by Rosemount UMC.

THE CHILI COOK-OFF AND SILENT AUCTION ARE ON MARCH 2ND after second services.  The competition was fierce last year and we expect 2008 to bring out even more contenders. Sign-up sheets for chefs are now posted so start rounding up your secret ingredients!  We need members to DONATE to the SILENT AUCTION: Everyone has something they can contribute to this special cause ~ Babysitting Hours, Baked Items, Sports Tickets, Cabin Weekends, Crafts, Housecleaning Services, Manicures, Computer Assistance, Themed Baskets ~ let your imagination go wild!  The Silent Auction is the primary fund raising activity used to support your Mission Team efforts.   If you have any questions you can contact Meredith Johnson at 651-322-6676 or meredith.johnson@thomson.com.

Learn your Gifts to Service! Serving from the Heart is a short class designed to help you find the gifts given to you by God, yes YOU! It's scheduled for Sunday, March 9th from 6:30-8:30 PM.  Please sign up by contacting Lori Maser by March 7th. PASTA ON WEDNESDAYS…The Wednesday night dinners, Pasta on Wednesdays, are served weekly from 5:30-6:30 p.m. , The cost is $5.00 per person and $2.00 for 12 years & under. Please sign up for the meal, either in the Narthex or by calling the church office at 651-423-2475, by 3:00 p.m. on Mondays.

We are blessed with a few regular volunteers, but more are definitely needed, especially from 6-7pm, to help with the clean up. If you are able to assist this ministry, please call Mary Moffitt (952-846-0157) or Gerry Vuchetich (952-431-6868).

GDK PRESCHOOL is now enrolling for the 2008-09 school year. Registration forms are available on the RUMC Children’s Welcome Table and on our website at www.godsdiscoverykids.org. SERVING OTHERS IN OUR COMMUNITIES

SIMPSON SHELTER… SIMPSON SHELTER for the month of March has been filled. The next available serving dates are April 21 and May 19. A sign up sheet is located on the west wall in the fellowship hall. For more info contact Rich Wirt 651-322-2331.

Many of you ask us to let you know when we have immediate donation needs arise. The Simpson Shelter currently has the following immediate donation needs:

* Men's and women's gloves, hats and scarves

* Men's and women's thermal long underwear

* Men's underwear sizes 30, 32, 34, boxers and briefs

* Women's underwear, smaller sizes

* Men's and women's socks

* Deodorant

* 10 heavy men's winter coats

* Warm, heavy blankets - our shelter mattresses are extra-long twin sized

Donations can be dropped off by the Donation Station (next to the pop machine) in the SHS tub.

THE CLOTHING CLOSET AT NORTH UMC takes donated clothing from the community and distributes them to low income and homeless families in North Minneapolis.  We've been partnering with them to help with this wonderful effort.  In order to stay open, they need 2-4 people from Rosemount UMC to help once a month.  We'll be taking our donations to their church, and helping them sort donations that come in.  The clothing closet is open from 9am-12pm.  We carpool from the church at 8:15am.  We're now taking sign ups for March 1, April 5 and May 3.  If you can help at any of these times, please contact Brenda Lawrence at brendalawrence@yahoo.com or 651.454.6117.

12 count egg cartons are needed by March 9. Please bring them to the container at the Children’s Welcome table. We will NOT need any more cartons after March 9.

THE BUNNY BRUNCH AND EGG HUNT will be hopping to Rosemount UMC on Saturday, March 15, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Bring your camera for a fantastic photo op. Eat brunch with the bunny and check out the games and crafts. Make your own Easter basket for the egg hunt. Sign up at the Children’s Welcome table. Please bring a 12 count empty egg carton with you day of party. A $5.00 family donation is suggested.
