- Sr. High Youth (9th -12th graders) meets from 6-8pm upstairs in the Attic! Our topic for the night is "Hollywood Jesus". Hope you can come on out!

- CLASS OF 2008 meets from 8pm-9:30 upstairs in the Attic! This series is designed for Seniors in High School. Hope you can join us!

 

Wednesday, Feb. 13th

- Club 78 (for 7th & 8th graders) meets from 6:30-8pm upstairs in the Attic. We will have Missionary Greg Strock joining us! And don't forget we will attempt the impossible shot!! Curious...come and check it out! C U on the Club side!

 

MISSION TRIPS FOR SUMMER of 2008.

-We still have one opening left for the Duluth Middle School Mission trip this summer! June 15th - 20th. If you would like to go please turn in a non-refundable deposit of $150 to Josh to secure your spot. UMY's registration has come to a close! There are 29 of you signed up to go! Be on the look out for more details coming to your mailbox soon! SUNDAY…COURIER QUARTET…Please join us for a special musical presentation between services today in the sanctuary.  The Courier Quartet will be presenting a "mini-concert" in the sanctaury following the 9 am service.  So come early for the 10:30 service or stay a little late after the 9 am and enjoy this fantastic Men's quartet.  They promise to be an inspirational addition to your worship experience.  A cake/coffee reception will be held in their honor during coffee hour between services.

 

CHECK YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE!  Sunday, Feb. 10, is Blood Pressure Sunday.  Stop in the Main Office area between 10:00 and 10:30 and MJ MacGuffie will check your numbers for you.  Thank you MJ for performing this service for us today.

 

THE CHILI COOK-OFF AND SILENT AUCTION ARE ON MARCH 2ND after second services.  The competition was fierce last year and we expect 2008 to bring out even more contenders. Sign-up sheets for chefs are now posted so start rounding up your secret ingredients!  We need members to DONATE to the SILENT AUCTION: Everyone has something they can contribute to this special cause ~ Babysitting Hours, Baked Items, Sports Tickets, Cabin Weekends, Crafts, Housecleaning Services, Manicures, Computer Assistance, Themed Baskets ~ let your imagination go wild!  The Silent Auction is the primary fund raising activity used to support your Mission Team efforts.   If you have any questions you can contact Meredith Johnson at 651-322-6676 or meredith.johnson@thomson.com

 

PASTA ON WEDNESDAYS…The Wednesday night dinners, Pasta on Wednesdays, are served weekly from 5:30-6:30 p.m. , at a cost of $5 per person with a maximum of $20 per family.  Please sign up for the meal, either in the Narthex or by calling the church office at 651-423-2475, by 3:00 p.m. on Mondays.

                We are blessed with a few regular volunteers, but more are definitely needed, especially from 6-7pm, to help with the clean up.  If you are able to assist this ministry, please call Mary Moffitt (952-846-0157) or Gerry Vuchetich (952-431-6868).

 

FLOWER CHARTS FOR 2008 ARE POSTED…If you would like to provide the flowers for the Chancel area or the Family Life Center, please sign up on the charts near the Usher’s stands.  More information is posted at the top of each chart.  Thank you.

ROSEMOUNT UMC IS SEEKING A WEEKEND CUSTODIAN.  This  2-3 hours per day position on Saturdays & Sundays, requires cleaning and preparing the church building for worship.  If you would like more information regarding this position, please contact Tami Luckhardt at 651-423-2475, ext. 206.

 

FAMILY CAREGIVING STRATEGIES - SPONSORED BY Rosemount UMC CARING MINISTRIES… More than ever, families face the practical and emotional challenges of caring for aging parents or a spouse. Whether sudden or gradual, assuming these roles and responsibilities can be unfamiliar and often overwhelming, particularly for working adults. Come to a free presentation in the Fellowship Hall Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 9:30-11:00 AM to learn about resources, strategies, and insights. CARNIVALE.......Our first Carnivale was an amazing success!!   Seventeen children participated and all seventeen are going to attend February's Carnivale.    We are infinitely blessed to have such wonderful volunteers.  They gave all the families the gift of God's love and grace.   Our next Carnivale will be Friday, February 22, 5:30-9:30 pm.  Preregistration for interested families with children with developmental disabilities is needed by Wednesday, February 20.  If you are a family that could benefit from this ministry, please contact Karen Klekner, 651-423-2475 or Gail Hoffmann, 952-322-5796. Or, if you would like to volunteer and have had Risk Management training in the last three years, please call Jane Hubbard, 651-423-4981.

 

NEW WINTER ADULT MINISTRIES

 

3M’S (Modern, Mature, Methodists) will have a fellowship meal as their February 12th Tuesday gathering.  Lunch begins at 12:30pm at Old Country Buffet in Burnsville (Nicollet Ave. just east of I-35W).  Meet there or at the church to carpool at noon.

 

AFRICAN FELLOWSHIP…Interested in Africa?  Want to make this a better world?  Join the African Fellowship for a program, discussion, and pot-luck meal at 11:45am., Sunday, February 10th, meets in D-125.

 

Living Fully, Dying Well…Sundays at 9:00 & 10:30 am. Our best decisions about life’s most important events are seldom made in times of crisis.  “Living Fully, Dying Well,” written by Bishop Reuben Job, assists in making careful, wise and prayerful preparation for meeting life’s most important moments.  A study for ALL ages designed for a frank and open discussion about faith mortality, and living every day to the fullest.  Led by Pastor Rick Ormsby.  Meets in D-125.

SIMPSON SHELTER…The next date for serving meals at the Simpson Shelter is February 11, to volunteer or for more info contact Rich Wirt @ 651-322-2331

 

THE CLOTHING CLOSET AT NORTH UMC takes donated clothing from the community and distributes them to low income and homeless families in North Minneapolis.  We've been partnering with them to help with this wonderful effort.  In order to stay open, they need 2-4 people from Rosemount UMC to help once a month.  We'll be taking our donations to their church, and helping them sort donations that come in.  The clothing closet is open from 9am-12pm.  We carpool from the church at 8:15am.  We're now taking sign ups for March 1, April 5 and May 3.  If you can help at any of these times, please contact Brenda Lawrence at brendalawrence@yahoo.com or 651.454.6117.

 

CHILDREN

 

12 count egg cartons are needed by March 9.  Please bring them to the container at the Children’s Welcome table.  We will NOT need any more cartons after March 9.

 

Zone 56

 

Zone 56 kids will be going to serve at Feed My Starving Children on Saturday, February 16.  Meet at the church at 11:00 a.m. to carpool to FMSC.  We will return to church around 1:45 for pizza.  Parents can pick up at 2:30 p.m.  Info will be sent home with the kids during Zone 56.  Chaperones/drivers needed.
