NOOMA Night is coming! Monday, Feb. 4th from 6-7pm upstairs in the Attic! Join us for another installment of NOOMA night for 8th & 9th graders and their mentors. Confirmands… please turn in your covenant forms! We have a few but still need some! If you are involved in confirmation…remember it is your responsibility to find a mentor if you don’t have one! This is an important part of your confirmation experience!

 

Class of 2008 is just around the corner!!! – If you are a senior this year please join us for “Class of 2008”! This program begins on Sunday, February 3rd from 8-9:30pm upstairs in the ATTIC!

 

Hey Sr. High students – UMY’s 2008 is coming! UMY’s is happening March 14th – 16th in St. Cloud! Join over 1,000 High School Students from across Minnesota for a weekend of worship, workshops, great friends and food! Registrations are available upstairs in the ATTIC if you are interested! Don’t think….just sign up and go!!

CHURCH CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT

A Church Conference has been scheduled for Monday, January 28, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of the Church Conference will be to receive reports from ministry areas, clergy, certified lay speakers, membership report, and to vote on the election of members of the Board of Trustees.  We will also receive an update on the “So All May Worship” capital campaign.

SEW TABLECLOTHS AND BOOK BAGS…On Tuesday, February 5th at 9:30-11:30am come to the Fellowship Hall to help hem two dark green, one red and one off white round tablecloths. They will be ready for the hems to be pressed, so please bring your steam iron to press the narrow hem. Round cloths for 60” tables that reach the floor is how many inches around? NEW MEMBER CLASS- This class is to inform prospective members about United Methodist history and organization. There is a focus on opportunities for spiritual growth and Christian ministry through our church.  The date is Saturday, February 2nd, from 8:30 until noon, and brunch will be served.  Please RSVP to jdibley@rosemountumc.org or 651-423-2475 including any childcare needs.

 

BALLROOM DANCE...Grab your partner for a special 6-week ballroom dance program. Learn some fun Latin, Swing and standard ballroom dances. Classes will meet every Friday of the month, starting January 18th thru February 22nd, from 7:30pm until 8:30 pm. The cost for the 6 week course is only $60 per couple and all proceeds support the Worship Arts Ministry. Registration is required. FAMILY CAREGIVING STRATEGIES - SPONSORED BY Rosemount UMC CARING MINISTRIES… More than ever, families face the practical and emotional challenges of caring for aging parents or a spouse. Whether sudden or gradual, assuming these roles and responsibilities can be unfamiliar and often overwhelming, particularly for working adults. Come to a free presentation in the Fellowship Hall Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 9:30-11:00 AM to learn about resources, strategies, and insights. PASTA ON WEDNESDAYS…The Wednesday night dinners, Pasta on Wednesdays, are served weekly from 5:30-6:30 p.m. , at a cost of $5 per person with a maximum of $20 per family.  Please sign up for the meal, either in the Narthex or by calling the church office at 651-423-2475, by 3:00 p.m. on Mondays.

                We are blessed with a few regular volunteers, but more are definitely needed, especially from 6-7pm, to help with the clean up.  If you are able to assist this ministry, please call Mary Moffitt (952-846-0157) or Gerry Vuchetich (952-431-6868).

 

ON JANUARY 27, THE CONGREGATION OF LA PUERTA ABIERTA UMC IN ST. PAUL WILL HOLD A DEDICATION SERVICE of the new church building at 690 Livingston Street, St. Paul (just off South Robert Trail.) GDK Preschool registration forms for the 2008-2009 school year are now available on the Rosemount UMC Children’s Welcome Table and on our website at www.godsdiscoverykids.org.  Completed registration forms are due by January 30.    We will be offering classes for three, four, and five-year-olds.  Contact Wendy Riphenburg at ext. 217 or

CARNIVALE…Carnivale is a respite care program for families with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their siblings such as a genetic syndrome, autism, ADHD and severe learning disabilities.  While the children will be enjoying an evening of fun activities and a meal, mom and dad can enjoy some time away for themselves.  Pre-registration is required.  If you are a family that could benefit from this ministry or if you would like to volunteer as a helper, please contact Gail Hoffmann, 952-322-5796 or Karen Klekner, 651-423-2475.

BIBLE STUDY “JAMES AND JOHNHere’s a dynamic duo!  The Letter of James and the Gospel of John.  Held Thursdays at 10:00am, beginning Feb. 7th, led by Pastor Rick Ormsby, meets in the home of Kathryn Cassem.

 

3M’S (Modern, Mature, Methodists) will have a fellowship meal as their February 12th Tuesday gathering.  Lunch begins at 12:30pm at Old Country Buffet in Burnsville (Nicollet Ave. just east of I-35W).  Meet there or at the church to carpool at noon.

 

AFRICAN FELLOWSHIP…Interested in Africa?  Want to make this a better world?  Join the African Fellowship for a program, discussion, and pot-luck meal at 11:45am., Sunday, February 10th, meets in D-125.

 

The Bible from Scratch – 2nd & 4th Tuesdays began January 22nd and runs through April 22nd @ 7:00 p.m.  Pastor Karen Bruins is leading this NEW small group for folks who are brand new to Bible study and want to learn in a safe, fun environment.  The first 7 lessons are on the Old Testament.  Child Care will be provided.  Please sign up at the Adult Ministries table in the Narthex or email Karen at kbruins@rosemountumc.org

 

Living Fully, Dying Well…Sundays at 9:00 & 10:30 am starting Feb. 1st.  Our best decisions about life’s most important events are seldom made in times of crisis.  “Living Fully, Dying Well,” written by Bishop Reuben Job, assists in making careful, wise and prayerful preparation for meeting life’s most important moments.  A study for ALL ages designed for a frank and open discussion about faith mortality, and living every day to the fullest.  Led by Pastor Rick Ormsby.  Meets in D-125.
