Sr. High Youth – for 9th – 12th grades students – next meeting Sunday, March 30th from 6-8pm upstairs in the ATTIC. We will have Pastor Brooke with us this evening as we talk about and discuss other religions. Come for a great night and some great discussion! Hope you can join us!

 

Seniors – Class of 2008 – Next meeting is Sunday, March 30th from 8-9:30pm upstairs in the ATTIC. Topic of discussion…”Doubts…” Join us all you seniors in High School!!

 

Club 78 – for 7th and 8th graders meets next on Wednesday, April 2nd from 6:30-8pm upstairs in the ATTIC. Our topic: “You rang?” All are welcome! Don’t forget about the impossible shot!!!

 

Duluth Mission Trip Orientation – Wednesday, April 2nd from 8pm-8:45pm upstairs in the Attic. This meeting is for students going to Duluth this summer and parents. You will receive valuable information about our summer experience, receive medical release forms, and other details about our experience this summer! Please be there!

 

We need you!! – We are recruiting individuals to help with BBW!! (Breakfast Before Worship) – The youth will be preparing and serving breakfast on Sunday, April 6th from 8am-10am. We are looking for helpers on Sunday morning April 6th beginning at 7am through 10:30am. We will also need help on Saturday, April 5th from 1pm-3pm to prep for the meal. All proceeds from the breakfast go to support Nothing But Nets and the Capital Campaign of Rosemount UMC.

Chicago Mission Trip Orientation – Sunday, April 6th from 11:30am12:15. This meeting is for students going on the Chicago Mission trip this summer and parents. You will receive more information about our experience this summer!! Please be there! SPOTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR THIS TRIP TO CHICAGO JULY 6TH – 12TH.

COMING…RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE…APRIL 26, 9:00AM-2:00PMWe are partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive here at Rosemount UMC.  Our goal is to sign up 55 blood donors.  There is a large sign up display in the narthex.  Monday-Thursdays you may also call the church office from 8:00am-4:00pm at (651)423-2475 to sign up for an appointment.  Please contact Pastor Karen to help with the blood drive (651-423-2475), or email kbruins @rosemountumc.org

CAREGIVER'S SUPPORT GROUP…On Saturday, April 26th from 9:30-11:00 AM we will be meeting at church to ask questions and support each other as we try to do our best with being caregivers for our loved ones. Contact Bonnie Student if you have

NEW MEMBER CLASS…for those interested in joining Rosemount UMC will begin with Session I on April 6 at 9AM. Session II will be April 13 at 9 AM, and Session III will be April 20 at 9 AM. Please plan to attend all 3 sessions. Regular Sunday morning child care is available. We will hear from various program leaders and staff, have a building tour, and learn what it means to be a United Methodist. The class will be held in the Chapel. Request for Salad Recipes Please give or email your recipes to Janet Ewing, janete9@charter.net  by April 13th or sooner. If you gave them to me for the MN Conference Cookbook last year, I will use those also.

 

PASTA ON WEDNESDAYS…The Wednesday night dinners, Pasta on Wednesdays, are served weekly from 5:30-6:30 p.m., the cost is  $5.00 per person and $2.00 for 12 years & under.  Please sign up for the meal, either in the Narthex or by calling the church office at 651-423-2475, by 3:00 p.m. on Mondays. More are definitely needed, especially from 6-7pm, to help with the clean up.  If you are able to assist this ministry, please call Mary Moffitt (952-846-0157) or Gerry Vuchetich (952-431-6868).

GDK PRESCHOOL is now enrolling for the 2008-09 school year.  Registration forms are available on the Rosemount UMC Children’s Welcome Table and on our website at www.godsdiscoverykids.org.  We will be offering classes for three, four, and five-year-olds.  Contact Wendy Riphenburg at 651-423-4127 or wriphenburg@rosemountumc.org for tours. 

 

Carnivale is coming up on Friday, April 25.  Volunteers (middle school and up) are needed for this exciting and terrific opportunity to serve families with special needs children and their siblings.  This program is growing by leaps and bounds simply by word of mouth both in the church and in the surrounding communities.  If you can volunteer from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. please contact Gail Hoffman, 952-322-5796 or Karen Klekner 651-423-2475.

NEW WINTER ADULT MINISTRIES

 

WELLNESS GROUP…Starting Monday, March 31st at 6:00 p.m. Wellness Walking Group will begin.  It will be Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays 6:00p-6:45p.  Meet at the front entrance of Rosemount UMC.  Maps of walking route will be available.  Come when you can!  Questions, contact Sherrie Holck, 952-423-4550, sholck@frontiernet.net

 

3M'S WILL MEET ON TUESDAY, APRIL 8, at noon in Fellowship Hall.  Enjoy a pot-luck meal with beverage provided.  The program is "China: Travel Impressions".

 

LAKELANDER BARBERSHOP CHORUS will be in concert at the Lakeville Art Center on Friday, April 4th.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.; tickets may be purchased at the door.  Pastor Rick Ormsby is a member of the chorus, who performed at Rosemount UMC last April.  The 4th Avenue Four quartet (and two other quartets) will be in the concert.  Rick is a member of the quartet, who have sung on several occasions at RUMC.

 

SERVING OTHERS IN OUR COMMUNITIES

 

THE FAMILY PLACEThe Family Place is a daytime shelter for homeless families in St. Paul. Our next serving opportunity for The Family Place will be Saturday, Apr 26.  If you would like to help out, please contact Tom and Linda Montgomery, coordinators.  We will car pool from the church, leaving about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Apr 26. OPERATION CLASSROOM UPDATE…Medicine bottles can be left at the Donation Location in the marked bin.  Operation Classroom spring shipment is coming up.  We need one person to deliver the boxes to Lake Harriet UMC on Friday, May 9 between 10am and 2 pm.  Please contact Shari Christian (651)905-0409 if you are able to help!  Thanks!

 

SIMPSON SHELTER Serving of hot meals…The next available serving dates are April 21 and May 19.  A sign up sheet is located on the west wall in the fellowship hall. For more info contact Rich Wirt 651-322-2331.

 

THE CLOTHING CLOSET AT NORTH UMC takes donated clothing from the community and distributes them to low income and homeless families in North Minneapolis.  The clothing closet is open from 9am-12pm.  We carpool from the church at 8:15am.  We're now taking sign ups for April 5 and May 3.  If you can help at any of these times, please contact Brenda Lawrence at brendalawrence@yahoo.com or 651.454.6117.

 

RECYCLING…To add to our regular recycling of cell phones and printer cartridges, the Lions Club is collecting your old glasses.   If you have questions, Hans Student is the contact person, 952-432-8024.  All donations can be left at the “Donation Location” near the pop machines.
