GDK PRESCHOOL is now enrolling for the 2008-09 school year.  Registration forms are available on the RUMC Children’s Welcome Table and on our website at www.godsdiscoverykids.org.  We will be offering classes for three, four, and five-year-olds.  Contact Wendy Riphenburg at 651-423-4127 or wriphenburg@rosemountumc.org for tours.

ROSEMOUNT UMC'S 7TH ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF COMPETITION WAS VERY TASTY!!  First we would like to thank all of chefs that participated.  Without the participation of all 32 chefs, we would not be able to have such a successful event.  Ken Golder was the overall winner.  Randy Wilson has once again been given the Spiciest Award, and Cindi Parker won the People’s Choice Award AND the Most Unique Flavor.

$3999.64 was raised for Rosemount UMC Missions in our community.   We would like to thank those that donated items, cooked, bid, and those that simply enjoyed the chili.  The event itself is a great time, but the effects of the money raised goes far beyond the walls of Rosemount UMC.

NEW WINTER ADULT MINISTRIES

DR. JOSEPH MBELE SPEAKS AT AFRICAN FELLOWSHIP

Dr. Joseph Mbele, professor of African Studies at St. Olaf College, will speak at the African Fellowship TODAY at an 11:45 a.m. pot-luck gathering (in room D-125).  All are invited as our guests, whether or not you have something for the meal.  Dr. Mbele is known nationally as an authority on African folk tales, and lectures frequently on cross cultural (African and Western) understanding.  A native on Tanzania, Dr. Mbele has been on the St. Olaf faculty for over 10 years.

PASCHAL MEAL COMING FOR MAUNDY THURSDAY

The Holy Week service for Maundy Thursday will be a Paschal Meal (held in Fellowship Hall or the Family Life Center—depending on the number attending).  Maundy Thursday commemorates the “last supper” Jesus had with the disciples on the evening before his crucifixion on Good Friday.  The Paschal or “sacrificial” meal celebrates the Jewish Passover and shows the Old Testament roots of our communion service.

The meal includes salad, fruit, lamb stew, and rice. Families with smaller children are especially encouraged to attend (macaroni and cheese will be available).  The meal begins at 6:30 p.m.  Those who choose not to attend the meal are welcome to join in the communion service at 7 p.m.   Reservations are requested.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex at the Adult table, or reservations may be made by phoning the church office 651-423-2475.  There is no charge for the meal, but a free will offering will be received.

3Ms (Modern Mature Methodists) gather at 1:00pm, Tuesday, March 11 for Game Day.  Bingo, cards and fellowship.  Bring an un-wrapped white elephant gift.   Dessert will be provided.
