Hey Sr. High students – UMY’s 2008 is coming! UMY’s is happening March 14th – 16th in St. Cloud! Join over 1,000 High School Students from across Minnesota for a weekend of worship, workshops, great friends and food! Registrations are available upstairs in the ATTIC if you are interested! CHURCH CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT

A Church Conference has been scheduled for Monday, January 28, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of the Church Conference will be to receive reports from ministry areas, clergy, certified lay speakers, membership report, and to vote on the election of members of the Board of Trustees.  We will also receive an update on the “So All May Worship” capital campaign.

BLOOD PRESSURE TIME!  Please stop by the office and see Donna Sauter to have your blood pressure checked today from 10:00 to 10:30.  Thanks to Donna for helping us this month.  We always appreciate those who perform this service for us.

 

BALLROOM DANCE...Grab your partner for a special 6 course ballroom dance program. Learn some fun Latin, Swing and standard ballroom dances. Classes will meet every Friday of the month, starting January 18th thru February 22nd, from 7:30pm until 8:30 pm. The cost for the 6 week course is only $60 per couple and all proceeds support the Worship Arts Ministry. Registration is required. MOVING SPIRIT DANCE MINISTRY will gather again beginning Sunday, January 20th from 2pm until 4pm. We will be preparing for an early Lent program and late spring special program TBA at the meeting! FAMILY CAREGIVING STRATEGIES - SPONSORED BY RUMC CARING MINISTRIES…More than ever, families face the practical and emotional challenges of caring for aging parents. Whether sudden or gradual, assuming these roles and responsibilities can be unfamiliar and often overwhelming, particularly for working adults. Come to a free presentation in the Fellowship Hall Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 9:30-11:00 AM to learn about resources, strategies, and insights. PASTA ON WEDNESDAYS  The weekly meals, served from 5:30-6:30 p.m., cost of $5 per person with a maximum of $20 per family. Please sign-up for the meal, either in the Narthex or by calling the church office at 651-423-2475, by 3 p.m. on Mondays.   We are blessed with a few regular volunteers, but more are definitely needed, especially from 6-7 p.m., to help with the clean up. ON JANUARY 27, THE CONGREGATION OF LA PUERTA ABIERTA UMC IN ST. PAUL WILL HOLD A DEDICATION SERVICE of the new church building at 690 Livingston Street, St. Paul (just off South Robert Trail.) North Central Jurisdiction Quadrennial Meeting of United Methodist Women will be held March 28-30 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel. Contact Janet Ewing to register by January 14.  Church bus and driver request: for the afternoons of March 27th or March 30th and or the morning of March 28th or March 31st. GDK Preschool registration forms for the 2008-2009 school year are now available on the RUMC Children’s Welcome Table and on our website at www.godsdiscoverykids.org.  Completed registration forms are due by January 30.    We will be offering classes for three, four, and five-year-olds.  Contact Wendy Riphenburg at ext. 217 or wriphenburg@rosemountumc.org for tours.

 

CARNIVALE…A very special ministry is coming to Rosemount UMC!!  Carnivale!!!  Our first event is on Friday, January 25 from 5:30 to 9:30pm in the FLC.  Carnivale is a respite care program for families with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their siblings such as a genetic syndrome, autism, ADHD and severe learning disabilities.  While the children will be enjoying an evening of fun activities and a meal, mom and dad can enjoy some time away for themselves.  Pre-registration is required.  If you are a family that could benefit from this ministry or if you would like to volunteer as a helper, please contact Gail Hoffmann, 952-322-5796 or Karen Klekner, 651-423-2475.

ADULT MINISTRIES

The Bible from Scratch – 2nd & 4th Tuesdays beginning January 22nd – April 22nd @ 7:00 p.m.  Pastor Karen Bruins will be leading this NEW small group for folks who are brand new to Bible study and want to learn in a safe, fun environment.  The first 7 lessons are on the Old Testament.  Child Care will be provided.  Please sign up at the Adult Ministries table in the Narthex or email Karen at kbruins@rosemountumc.org
